Loads
Into Defra's spreadsheet
- Press Build Defra spreadsheet.
- Upload the file to the report receipt of waste service.
- Come back and press Mark as submitted.
Build
Every load you've recorded
Sent or not, at all your sites. A spreadsheet for your own records or an inspector. It isn't for uploading to Defra.
Bring in loads from a spreadsheet
Save it as CSV first (in Excel: File, Save As, CSV). One row per load. Nothing is saved until you check the preview and press the button at the bottom.
Quarterly waste return
If your permit asks for a quarterly waste return, this fills in the Environment Agency's own form from your loads.

Welcome
One question first, so the rest of this makes sense for you.
Set your site up once and after that you just log loads.
AB1234CD.Setting it up is free - there's no setup fee - and nothing is charged today. It's £89 a month per site, no contract, and you can stop any time. What you get for it
Add each client site below — one entry per site, under their company name and their permit number, not yours.

Have you registered the company with Defra yet?
- Open waste-tracking.defra.gov.uk and sign in with your organisation's Government Gateway or GOV.UK One Login, never a personal one. You should now see a page headed Your Defra account. It looks finished. It isn't.
- Choose Report receipt of waste (or scroll to Action, then Manage), then Manage my API code. You should now see Your API code, with a list of codes or none.
- Press Create additional code, then Copy next to it. It is 36 characters with dashes, in the shape xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx.
- Paste it in the box below and press Save code. The yellow "Contact support ID" and the phone number on Defra's page are not it - the box below tells you if you paste one.
